Activate payments
Periode takes payments through Adyen, our payment partner. You apply once from the Backoffice, and from then on payments, refunds and payouts to your bank account run through Periode. Guests can pay by card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and with local methods such as Vipps in Norway, Swish in Sweden and iDEAL in the Netherlands.
What you need
Have these ready before you start, because the application asks for them:
- Identity papers, for example a passport.
- Proof that you own the bank account, for example a screenshot from your online bank.
Apply
- Open
Settings > Means of payment. - Fill in your country, legal name, web address and industry code, and choose Next.
- Fill in your shopper statement, phone number and address, and choose Next. The shopper statement is the name guests see on their card statement, up to 22 characters.
- Choose Open form and fill in the rest of the application in Adyen. The link stops working after a few minutes, so if it has expired, choose Regenerate form link.
Adyen reviews the application. Under Capabilities you can follow the status of Can receive payments and Can receive payouts.
Payouts
Money from your sales is paid out to your bank account automatically. The first payout is not made the moment your first payment comes in. It waits until every condition below is met, and the same conditions apply to every payout after it.
| Condition | Who does it | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Adyen has approved payouts | Adyen | Can receive payouts under Capabilities is on. Adyen turns it on when it has checked the identity papers and the business details from your application. |
| Your bank account is verified | Adyen | The bank account you added in the application is confirmed with the proof of ownership you uploaded. Payouts can only go to a verified account. |
| Periode has set up your payout schedule | Periode | We create the schedule when your first payments come in, normally weekly. Contact us if you want payouts daily or monthly instead. |
| Your balance is above the amount kept back | You | An amount always stays in the account to cover refunds: kr 1000 in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, and 100 in the local currency elsewhere. Only the amount above it is paid out. For larger operations a small percentage of monthly revenue is held back to cover refunds. |
| Your Periode invoices are paid | You | An unpaid monthly invoice is added to the amount kept back until it is paid. The same goes for approved franchise fees you owe. |
Once all of this is in place, the first payout comes on the next scheduled day. From then on, every scheduled day pays out whatever is above the amount kept back, and the amount kept back stays in the account.
The transaction fee, a percentage of the amount plus a small fixed fee, is deducted from each payment before it reaches your balance, so there is nothing to pay on the side. The rates for each country are on the pricing page, and Periode fees and invoices explains what is deducted and what the monthly invoice contains.
You can follow payments and payouts under Reporting > Adyen. Provider reports and payouts explains how to match them with your bank account.
Vipps
In Norway, guests can pay with Vipps. To turn it on, upload a logo and choose Enable Vipps. The logo is shown in the Vipps app, and it must be a square PNG between 100 × 100 and 200 × 200 pixels, at most 150 kB.
Vipps through Adyen covers bookings and other one-off payments. Charging memberships with Vipps needs a separate agreement with Vipps, so contact us if your members should pay that way.
